England v Q

News from Cricket Tragic Peter Quick, who is currently touring with the Newcastle Lord Taveners team at the Golden Oldies Tournament in Harrogate, England ... the cricket has been excellent and the touring life suits him!

The most recent of results was a loss to a local side with more ringers than an Indian call centre. Opposition only had seven players so asked if they could play someone under the age limit - a 35 year old where the age limit is 40. The Q's skipper, former Aussie leg spinner Robert "Dutchy" Holland, readily agreed, as he did five minutes later when they said they had three others who had been hanging around the nets. These latest were 19 year olds, who then opened the bowling and the batting and did what 19 year olds will do to 50, 60 and 70 year olds.

The Q reports that he hit the best square cut four of his career in his total of 7 and then was caught in the gully next ball trying to repeat it. Looks like it only took two cards for that trick! Quirky's mate Kirky, otherwise known as the Medivac Kid, has predictably broken down, this time with a groin strain. The ghost of Colonel Klink lives on (apologies for that in-joke).

More info and perhaps some scores when The Q next wakes me from otherwise pleasant sleep to skite on skype.
Next game is against Lord Taveners of the UK at Newby Hall on 11th August.
