No time for a full blog today as I'm off to Armidale for more research on my history of Waratahs Cricket Club - today I'm gathering from the 1970's and meeting an old mate for lunch ... always the most pleasant of life's joys.
Just a few points to note in the build up to the Ashes ... with England's seamers frustrated as conditions turned to batting on the third day, Graeme Swann had his first real bowl of the series. Included were dismissals from a ball which drifted from outside off, pitched leg and hit the top of off - for all intents and purposes, the doosra. He also took wickets with a vicious off break and ball which held it line on off stump enticing a no-shot lbw. Start taking notice of Swann. Although he has all the modern off spinners tricks and Warnes devil to win attitude. Here at Edgbaston, 36-20-60-6 is remarkable on a ground where very few spinners have taken bags of wickets.
The other points adds to the news that England will train exclusively with the Kooka following the Pakistan series. The addition is John Buchanan acting as a consultant to England for the Ashes series.
Be afraid, be very afraid.
